Museum TakeAway

The Museum TakeAway Service is a resource loans service for schools, colleges, community groups, care homes and many other organisations across the county.  There is a wide selection of boxes to hire, including natural history, social history, ancient history and culture.  Many of the themed boxes are curriculum-related - for example The Romans, World War II, Slavery, Judaism, and Traditional Toys.  For full details of the TakeAway range, please download the catalogue, or contact Claire Chambers at .   Please note that the annual subscription fee (academic year September-August) is now £50.00 + VAT and not as shown in the catalogue.

Items from our loan boxes can be used in a multitude of ways to help children to develop their key skills of investigation and enquiry, interpretation and analysis, presentation and communication, as well as extending their historical knowledge and understanding.  This leaflet shows some generic ideas that have been developed by BEd students at the University of Gloucestershire in conjunction with Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, in a project funded by the MLA.

TakeAway Specials

For an extra-special event or promotion, we can supply a smart and secure display case featuring an object from the Museum's main collections.  Suitable for school, college, waiting room or foyer, subject to environmental and security assessment.  These cases provide a stunning and unusual talking point at any venue.  Please contact Claire Chambers for details, as above.
